We need a strong left-wing opposition!

Due to the threatening rise of nationalist and right-wing parties, we call on you to actively maintain a left-wing parliamentary opposition in Germany and to vote for Die Linke in the upcoming federal elections!
We would consider it fatal if, after the split-off of the BSW, there were no left positions represented in the Bundestag and the state and local parliaments.

Who we are

We are people from different left-wing and social movements and projects; most of us have never been organised in a party.

WHY VOTE LEFT

We expect that the loss of a left-wing opposition will lead to a loss of parliamentary control and that left-wing positions will be further pushed out of the public sphere. Without left-wing criticism in the parliaments, the remnants of social democratic and ecological positions would be further weakened. And there would also be no parliamentary opposition to the inhumane migration and asylum policies of the other parties. The chances of alliances without the CDU, FDP and AfD would dwindle.

Even if not all our experiences with Die Linke have been great: Civil society initiatives, campaigns, groups and projects have been supported at grassroots level by the parliamentary left in the past. For example through parliamentary inquiries or through the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. Concrete political goals, e.g. on social issues, could often be achieved more successfully together.

We therefore propose

  • Vote for the Left Party in the Bundestag elections – to increase voter turnout and weaken the right-wing parties in the Bundestag.
  • Join the Left Party now – also to send a public signal and to encourage those who remain in the party.
  • To bring our demands to the Left Party in order to breathe new life into it and contribute to making it a well-established, convincing and electable alternative for many.
  • To actively contribute to the development of an extra-parliamentary social movement that campaigns for social and emancipatory conditions independently of parliamentary majorities and thus, as a direct-democratic force from below, can also ensure that the social and emancipatory orientation within Die Linke remains strong.
